A BVI proprietary process designed to ensure the organizational existence of appropriate Safety Leadership Competencies – LeadSmart comprises a comprehensive Safety Leadership Competency Framework. The framework contains seven (7) key competencies which, if effectively adopted, will help drive a sound safety culture and help improve organizational safety performance. Each of the seven competencies contains an active inventory of behavioural attributes, which leaders would be expected to exhibit on a daily basis. LeadSmart also contains an inventory of processes and tools that drive the Learning, Practising, Mastering and Maintaining of each of these competencies in organizational leaders. LeadSmart would be marketed as a service – where our organization would identify the current level of Leadership competencies using our proprietary Leadership Engagement Assessment Process (LEAP), then develop a plan for LeadSmart implementation, and if desired by a client, implementation would be facilitated through BVI and its associates, or, implemented by the client with support from BVI and its associated.

BVI’s proprietary Leadership Engagement Assessment Process – a formal assessment  process that quantifies the level of Leadership Engagement in Safety – it includes a three-phase, interview-centric process of information gathering, formulation and scoring, resulting in a unique client report and support process.  The process focuses on assessing five (5) aspects of Leadership (Expectations, Communications, Competencies, Resourcing, Committed Proactive Engagement) across four (4) focus areas (Planning of Safe Work, Safe Execution of Work Tasks, Managing Performance to Expectations, and Managing Corrective Actions and Program Improvement).  Each of the 20 elements measured is quantified (scored 1-4 by competent assessors based on information collected through interviews/site verification observations) and a client report developed identifying Areas of Strength/Opportunities for Improvement, a 20-element Heat Map is developed along with a ScoreSheet, and a comprehensive report provided explaining how the process was evaluated.

BVI’s  proprietary, multi-layered approach to implementation of an effective Health and Safety Management System based upon a proprietary 5- level Management Pyramid. This is a process of drilling down from one aspect of BVI’s proprietary Safety Management System Pyramid composed of (from bottom of pyramid up) Strategic Direction, Governance, Workplace, Workforce, and finally Leadership. These are the five basic levels of an organization that a leader needs to effectively manage on a daily basis. The system allows for a logical cascading down to very specific aspects of an organizational SMS element starting at one of the 5 pyramid levels. BVI’s SMS is ISO 45001:2018 compliant, and the process works its way down from one of the five levels down to corresponding management system elements (at the policy level), down to safety program requirements (at the specific work task requirement level). It is a simple yet effective way for employees to find and use organizational SMS/Safety Program requirement information as opposed to a traditional manual-based system.
